Netflix Orders Straight-to-Series Adaptation of Denzel Washington's 'Man on Fire'

Netflix has greenlit a series adaptation of the beloved 2004 film "Man on Fire," which starred Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning. The straight-to-series order comes as Netflix continues to invest heavily in original content.
According to Variety, Dan Power ("The Night Agent") will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the series. Netflix has not yet announced a release date or casting information.
"Man on Fire" is a gripping action thriller that tells the story of Creasy (Washington), a washed-up CIA agent hired to protect Pita Ramos (Fanning), the 9-year-old daughter of a wealthy Mexican businessman. When Pita is kidnapped and murdered, Creasy vows revenge and unleashes a bloody rampage against her captors.
The original film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $226 million worldwide. It is considered one of Washington's most iconic roles.
