Arsenal v Chelsea: Gunners claim derby day bragging rights in style

A dominant display from Arsenal saw them claim a convincing 3-0 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Goals from Leandro Trossard, Ben White, and Kai Havertz (own goal) gave the Gunners the points and moved them up to second in the table, 18 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Arsenal took the lead after 26 minutes when Trossard's shot from the edge of the box took a deflection off Chelsea defender Thiago Silva and looped over goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

White doubled the hosts' advantage in the 34th minute with a close-range header from Bukayo Saka's cross. Havertz put the game beyond doubt when he headed Saka's cross into his own net in the 63rd minute.

The victory was Arsenal's first over Chelsea in the Premier League since September 2019 and extended their unbeaten run to six matches.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have now lost five of their last seven games in all competitions and their hopes of finishing in the top four are hanging by a thread.

The result leaves Arsenal in a strong position to secure a top-four finish and qualify for next season's Champions League.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are now nine points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place and their hopes of playing European football next season are fading fast.
